In the first tutorial Ruth asked us the question 'why do so many people who play games regularly dislike being refered to as gamers?'. I think the handle 'Gamer' carries with it an association with an image of a certain kind of person. You all know what I mean, the images in the second clip of todays lecture illustrated it pretty well. And although the idea that all gamers are nerdy, mal-(or over) naroushed, pimply, socially retarded recluses is a total stereotype and extremely innacurate I believe that it is this image that makes people dissasociate themselves with the tag.
