When it comes to buying things like clothes, shoes, accessories and even food there are always brands we’d prefer to buy. Names and logo’s that we stand by and trust...
So when it comes down to it video games and consoles are no exception. There is always going to be people out there that prefer one over the other...and to be honest this battle often takes place in my house."My XBOX360 is better than your PS3"... Whatever "My PS3 is better than your XBOX 360" and so on.
So...
PS3 or XBOX 360? Which one do you prefer? In the war who’s side do you take? And why?
Well let’s put forth the pros and cons for both...
Sony has kept the PS2 in production, which releases new games for the console. Because the XBOX no longer produces new games, the PS2 is much more affordable than the XBOX360; therefore those that can’t afford the PS3 or XBOX 360 still have access to a gaming console. The XBOX360 in relation to its competitor the PS3 is less expensive, and therefore more affordable. Therefore people are more able to purchase the XBOX360. The PS3 has a built in blue ray player and due to the PS3’s current price drop makes it the cheapest blue ray player on the market. XBOX360 decided to go with HD, which due to marketing has proved to be much less desirable for customers because the new generation of DVD’s are being produced in blue ray not HD. XBOX360 is believed to be better when it comes to online multiplayer games. XBOX360 also has a wider range of independent games. This allows customers to purchase games that cater to a wide range of interests. Recently big ant studio’s has produced ‘World of outlaws’ for XBOX360 to cater for gamers interested in speedway. Those that have a PS3 are unable to purchase this game. So if you want this game and are interested in speedway you’ll have to purchase a XBOX 360. Also XBOX 360 has Halo a game that has proved to be popular in the gaming market. However like world of outlaws it is only accessible for those that have an XBOX 360... So those that have a PS3 miss out. I’m sure there are many more pros and cons and I’m certainly not and expert so... What did you choose and why?

The tribalism which can form around consoles or particular game lines is at the one time fascinating and deeply strange.
ReplyDeleteFrom my own perspective, I'm very cheap. We have a PS2 and a Wii, which we got comparatively recently to upgrade from a secondhand gamecube.
The PS3 is a much lower priority due to expense and how difficult it seems to be to get a backwards compatible version.
The XBox360 is primarily focused on multiplayer games - I *think* over the web but I'm not sure. Anyway, that shifts the context so it'd be less relevant for us, plus bandwidth is enough of a problem as it is.
