Why we play videogames
There is always a question around me which is why we play videogames? In many times, I asked by myself, and I think there are three main points.
The first one is that video games as a new art form or new medium, it is different from other mediums. (eg: film, tv) When we watch tv or film. We just see what is on the screen. It is not very engaging because the viewers are disconnecting from the medium. But when we play games, we are connecting to the medium; there is an interaction between you and the game. As we play some RPG games. We can pick the options or make the decisions by ourselves. Which is say different personalities will lead the game to the different endings.
Secondly, the experience in games is totally different in other mediums. You cannot win a battle in the film or you cannot have the experience of flying in television. But in while you play, you can have all kinds of different and crazy experiences. You can kill anybody just by click on the mouse. Or you can driving a nice car with a beautiful girl even there are lots of policeman chasing after you. Furthermore, you can fulfil your fantasy or become everything you wanted be. Because in videogames. Everything is about you.
The last one is for child education. There is no doubt that game is right for the kids. And when kids play games, they are learning life and some scientific concepts. (eg: sinks and floats, math concept) And sometimes, parents will buy some new games and some new video game products to play with kids. While they are playing together, both of them are building love between themselves. And by playing and teaching at the same time, kids are willing to learn more things because they are interest about it.
